Philadelphia

Philadelphia is the second largest city on the east coast and mainly known as the birthplace of the USA. Temporarily the first capital of the United States, Philadelphia offers more historic sites related to the American history than any other city in the US. These include the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, only to name a few monuments of the American democracy displayed in Philadelphia. The original center city still exists: located in a central square is the impressive town hall with different reliefs and sculptures such as the statue of William Penn on the rooftop.

Simone's Insider Tip

With its nearly 4,000 murals produced by the Mural Arts Program, Philadelphia is known as the Mural Capital of the world. I haven’t seen all of them, so I am very excited to discover a new colourful mural every time I am in Philly. On the Mural Mile Walking Tour you learn more about the meaning behind different Murals. Each one tells its own story and that impresses me every time I am in Philadelphia. It's amazing how colourful the city is!
